I have now been coming to see Tom for a couple of months and the improvements I have seen have been brilliant. I solely put this down to the quality of our sessions and also the after service I receive. After each lesson, I receive notes and an internet video lesson and furthermore Tom is always at the end of an email to answer any questions I have. All of this has really helped me retain information from our sessions as only naturally I tend to forget everything we talk about!John Smith, Club Golfer, Handicap 12
Thomas is a Class AA PGA Professional and graduated in 2012 with First Class Honours from the University of Birmingham in the prestigious and now world renowned Applied Golf Management Studies BA Degree. Since its introduction in 2002, it has been quickly recognised as one of the best programmes in the country and is known for being at the forefront of expertise in coaching, sports science and technology.
Aside from his study at University, Thomas spent time in Austria and Oman working as a Golf Teaching Professional at both venues. After graduation, Thomas then travelled to Ireland where he led a successful Junior Program over the summer months, introducing golf to over 150 local children. Following this, he embarked on a cruise ship in late 2012 and worked on board as a golf trainer, travelling to over 30 countries worldwide, whilst delivering golf services to passengers on board.
Upon disembarkation in mid 2013, Thomas returned to the UK and is now based at Oulton Hall Golf Academy, Leeds. More recently, he has started a Post Graduate Masters in Sports Coaching at The University of Birmingham; this is a newly established program, linked with the PGA, and covers a range of aspects involved with Sports Coaching, investigating and examining the art of coaching aside from technique.
During his study at University, Thomas conducted a research study examining the effects of commercially produced sports wristbands on golf swing kinematics. In this, he worked alongside Dr. Matt Bridge and Mark Bull, a leading UK golf swing biomechanist. As a result, Thomas developed a real interest in Golf Swing Biomechanics and how the physical aspects of an athlete can affect the functionality of the golf swing. Recent work with Trackman University has developed his knowledge further, increasing his awareness of the “true ball flights” and the importance of evidence based coaching.
Thomas is delighted to offer his services to all golfers who want to improve their golf and welcomes any questions regarding all aspects of the game.
I would just like to say that I really enjoyed the fitting and found the analysis of the numbers very interesting. Your input, explanation and guidance was very much appreciated.
It certainly was the best and most informative fitting session I have had. I will be recommending you to my golfing friends.Jason Simpson, Custom Fit Pupil
Tom – thank you very much for all the hard work you are putting into our ladies sessions. I feel the sessions now have a truly professional structure and I really look forward to each session. One area I have particularly enjoyed are the regular tests that we complete on all areas of our game to help us monitor progress. This has been very valuable as it’s often difficult to precisely track any progress – your way of coaching gives clear answers as to where my weaknesses are and I am not the only one to have really enjoyed this new aspect. I’m looking forward to the summer season more than ever now!Linda Richards, Ladies Group Sessions Pupil, Handicap 28
